About the Event

The Fire + Water Artists’ Book Festival is honoring and representing the roots of The House of RAD, which is welding, metals and fire, while we are also honoring Water because we are located on one of the greatest lakes, Lake Michigan, and without water we would have no paper.

Along with AP3, Studio Tlacuilo + Library are helping to organize this year’s inaugural artists’ book festivals. This community of book artists, printers and makers want to give gratitude to the bookmakers of the past, those who fought against massive book burnings through the Americas from the 15th Century till today. We acknowledge we are on the traditional Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk and Menominee homeland.

Featured at Fire + Water Artists’ Book Festival will be AP3’s inaugural Limited Edition Calendar Fundraiser. The artists, members and volunteers of AP3 have been creating a 2024 Calendar of fine art prints for the community to purchase. These funds guarantee the mission of AP3 can continue into the next years. Anchor Press, Paper & Print (AP3) is a non-profit community-based printshop. Our mission is to advance the fine art printmaking tradition by providing education and studio access for emerging and professional artists and for people of all ages, ethnicities, and genders, and by educating the public about fine art printmaking processes.
